THALIPITH |थालीपीठ
Thalipith is one of the dish which is prepared at every Maharashtrian home, it is a traditional breakfast recipe of Maharashtra. It is a kind of multigrain Indian Flatbread which is a highly nutritious, breakfast or teatime snack made in Maharashtra.
In local language, the flour which is used to prepare Thalipith it is known as Thalipith bhajani. It is made from flour of jowar, Wheatflour , Gram flour, bajara flour, cumin powder, coriander powder, ajwain (carom seeds). The mixture of all these flours makes a final product tastier and healthier. Thalipith bhajani is easily available in your local market, and if thalipith flour (bhajani) is made at home then it can be stored for few months.
Basically Thalipith is made with a mixture of many flours along with chopped onions, chopped green chilli , coriander leaves, turmeric powder and salt which gives a unique taste to it. It is mostly served with pure ghee along with chatni or curd.
The best part of this dish is along with being nutritious and tasty, it is very easily and quick recipe. You would surely ask for "one more" if you taste it.

Ingredients
Thalipit flour |
02 cups |
Chopped onions |
02 nos |
Chopped green chilli |
02 tsp |
Chopped coriander leaves |
02 tbsp |
Turmeric powder |
1 tsp |
Salt |
To taste |
Water |
As required |
Oil |
For shallow fry ( As Required) |
Ghee |
As Required |
Method
Dough
- First take a bowl, add 02 cups of thalipit flour mixture.
- Now add chopped onion, chopped green chillies, chopped coriander leaves, turmeric powder and salt. Mix everything well.
- Now sprinkle some water in thalipit flour mixture and knead well till it turns too soft dough.
- Take a plate and make small balls from the dough.
- Roll out each ball of dough into a round sheet with your hands.
- Apply some oil on your palm and fingers to avoid the dough from sticking to your hands.
- The rolled sheet should not be too thin, make sure the round sheet of thalipit is approximately 0.5cm thick.
- Now with the help of finger make small holes on thalipit.
- Now take a pan, add oil in it and heat it.
- When oil is heated , shallow fry thalipit from both the sides till it turn golden brown.
- When thalipit is cooked from both the sides, serve hot with pure ghee and coconut chatni.
